The KGA

The Kanto Golf Association(KGA) was founded on March 18th by eight prestigious private golf clubs around Tokyo area for socializing Japanese golfers.
We now have members of more than 500 golf clubs in the central region of Japan that includes Tokyo and 10 prefectures around the capital city - namely “Kanto,” and are the largest organization under the Japan Golf Association (JGA).
We reorganized into a public organization on April 3 in 2017, and run over 100 armature golf tournaments, the excellent junior golfer training program and other key golfing events to promote the golf as a healthy national and lifelong sport.

Activity of KGA

Armature Golf Tournaments

The KGA contributes to the promotion of golf games and the socialization of golfers by organizing over 100 armature golf tournaments. In addition, the R&A Rules School is utilized to improve the skills of competition committee officials and the quality of operation for these tournaments.

The Junior Golfer Training Program

We have “TEAM KGA Junior” program which is a project aimed at discovering and nurturing junior golfers. The program is based on the training policy of JGA to develop golfers who can play an active role at the world level. Also, through the hosting of junior competitions and schools for junior golfer including beginners, the KGA nurtures junior golfers who have learned the rules, etiquette and manner while improving their skills.

Promotion of World Handicap System

The World Handicap System is a system that has been launched in 2020 and introduced in Japan in April 2022 to unify the different handicap systems that have existed around the world, so that golfers of different skills can compete fairly and equitably, regardless of how they play or where they play. The KGA is supporting the spread of the system through explanatory meetings in various regions.
